The general expectation is that people will serve on the strata committee on a voluntary basis.
However, the legislation does allow an owners corporation to pay a strata committee member in recognition of services performed for the owners corporation during the preceding year (section 46 of the SSMA).
The amount of payment to a strata committee member needs to be determined at an annual general meeting.
The suggested form of motion in the general meeting notice is as follow:
“The Owners- Strata Plan No //insert number// RESOLVES pursuant to section 46 of the Strata Schemes Management Act 2015, to pay //insert name// the sum of $//insert amount// for the services performed by //insert name// in the last 12 months.” |
